Arbuckles is operated by all the staff and management, under an ‘Employee Ownership Trust Scheme’ carrying on the successful legacy of founders John and Maxine Murphy.
By establishing an Employee Ownership Trust in December 2018, John & Maxine – who first opened the Downham Market restaurant in 2008 – are rewarding all their staff for the vital part they’ve played in making Arbuckles the successful restaurants they are today.
An Employee Ownership Trust effectively means that all of the staff will be owners of the business and share in the success and profits when the process is completed.
The Restaurants
The original Downham Market restaurant situated on the A10 is perfect for large family gatherings in our chandelier room to a private dining experience in your own Secret Garden glasshouse (suitable for up to 4 adults).
Our Ely restaurant opened in 2017 and is situated on Ely Leisure Complex. Designed for both families and friends with our comfortable booth seating and intimate mezzanine level.
Our vastly experienced team of chefs and waiting staff (soon to be owners!) will continue to do their utmost and exceed your expectations.
Arbuckles opens 7 days a week for quality breakfasts, made with the finest ingredients and freshly ground coffee. Available from midday is the main menu. Delicious steaks, ribs, fajitas, grills, salads and many more delicious combos await hungry appetites, and all at very reasonable prices. Full allergen information is available, including options for gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options.
To compliment the tasty food, the Arbuckles Bar serves a wide range of beers, spirits, soft drinks and coffees, alongside wine and cocktail menus.

Military Discount*
We now offer a 15% food discount to Military Personnel.
All we need from you is to see a valid military ID card in order to provide the discount.
- Valid all day Sunday-Thursday and before 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
- 1 valid ID card allows the discount on up to 6 meals.
- Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
NHS and Emergency Service Discount*
We also offer a 15% food discount for all NHS and Emergency Service Personnel.
In order to process the discount, we will need to see a valid ID card for the service you work within.
